FAQs

  • Reiki is an energy healing treatment that works holistically; on the whole body, mind, and spirit. It is not a system of religious beliefs, Reiki is simply a relaxing treatment whereas natural healing vibrations are transmitted through the hands of a Reiki practitioner (acting as a conduit) to the body of the recipient. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to relieve stress and pain, induce relaxation, release emotional blockages, reduced stress, anxiety, and depression response, accelerate natural healing, balance subtle body energies, and support other medical modalities including traditional therapies.

This class will give you an opportunity to relax, heal, and renew something so much needed to support your health and connect to yourself.

  • Reiki Therapy session takes place in a relaxing environment or treatment room. Newton holds some of her reiki sessions in well-ventilated outdoor spaces.

In a typical treatment room setting with a reiki practitioner and a client, the client begins to face up and fully clothed. The Reiki practitioner will briefly discuss the client’s ailment or situation they hope to heal. The session might begin with a brief meditation, and then the practitioner uses various hand movements to lightly touch or hover over various parts of the client’s body while they are face up and face down. Throughout the session, the practitioner focuses specifically on their intent for healing.

A typical session lasts 60 minutes, and a client-practitioner discussion uses a good amount of that time to talk about what came up for them and perhaps also what I intuited.

  • Promotes RelaxationThe most well-documented benefits of reiki revolve around the relaxation response, which practitioners say invokes the body’s natural healing process. On a physical level, Reiki can help reset the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which regulates heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, and digestion.

Boosts Mood and SleepResearch suggests reiki helps with anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

Eases Physical Pain and Improves Quality of Life reiki’s role in pain alleviation after knee surgeries recovery, hypertension management, and the improvement of overall quality of life.
